Poisoning a population dates back centuries. Historians can surely point out times when water supplies have been tainted during wars. The US Government even provided disease-infected blankets to the Native Americans. And industrial waste products such as arsenic have created unlivable conditions in some parts of the world. But systematically poisoning a population isn't something governments are willing to admit to in this day and age.

Themirosal in vaccines

Attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been a leader in protecting water supplies from industrial waste as well as exposing an apparent link between innoculations and autism. Rolling Stone reports of the government cover-up in its 2005 article, "Deadly Immunity":

According to a [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)] epidemiologist named Tom Verstraeten, who had analyzed the agency's massive database containing the medical records of 100,000 children, a mercury-based preservative in the vaccines — thimerosal — appeared to be responsible for a dramatic increase in autism and a host of other neurological disorders among children.… Since 1991, when the CDC and the [Food and Drug Adminsitration (FDA)] had recommended that three additional vaccines laced with the preservative be given to extremely young infants — in one case, within hours of birth — the estimated number of cases of autism had increased fifteenfold, from one in every 2,500 children to one in 166 children.… But instead of taking immediate steps to alert the public and rid the vaccine supply of thimerosal,…officials …discuss[ed] how to cover up the damaging data.

More than 500,000 kids currently suffer from autism, and pediatricians diagnose more than 40,000 new cases every year. The disease was unknown until 1943, when it was identified and diagnosed among eleven children born in the months after thimerosal was first added to baby vaccines in 1931.

Before 1989, American preschoolers received eleven vaccinations — for polio, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis and measles-mumps-rubella. A decade later, thanks to federal recommendations, children were receiving a total of twenty-two immunizations by the time they reached first grade. As the number of vaccines increased, the rate of autism among children exploded. During the 1990s, 40 million children were injected with thimerosal-based vaccines, receiving unprecedented levels of mercury during a period critical for brain development.

As the federal government [has] worked to prevent scientists from studying vaccines, others have stepped in to study the link to autism. In April [2005], reporter Dan Olmsted of UPI undertook one of the more interesting studies himself. Searching for children who had not been exposed to mercury in vaccines — the kind of population that scientists typically use as a "control" in experiments — Olmsted scoured the Amish of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, who refuse to immunize their infants. Given the national rate of autism, Olmsted calculated that there should be 130 autistics among the Amish. He found only four. One had been exposed to high levels of mercury from a power plant. The other three — including one child adopted from outside the Amish community — had received their vaccines.…

Iowa became the first state to ban mercury in vaccines, followed by California. Similar bans [have been] under consideration in thirty-two other states. But instead of following suit, the FDA continues to allow manufacturers to include thimerosal in scores of over-the-counter medications as well as steroids and injected collagen. Even more alarming, the government continues to ship vaccines preserved with thimerosal to developing countries — some of which are now experiencing a sudden explosion in autism rates. In China, where the disease was virtually unknown prior to the introduction of thimerosal by U.S. drug manufacturers in 1999, news reports indicate that there are now more than 1.8 million autistics. Although reliable numbers are hard to come by, autistic disorders also appear to be soaring in India, Argentina, Nicaragua and other developing countries that are now using thimerosal-laced vaccines. The World Health Organization continues to insist thimerosal is safe, but it promises to keep the possibility that it is linked to neurological disorders "under review."

The National Vaccine Information Center reports on legislation proposed by Congress to eliminate liability for vaccine injuries:

The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) — [founded by parents of vaccine injured children in 1982] — is calling the "Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act of 2005" (S. 1873), which passed out of the U.S. Senate HELP Committee one day after it was introduced "a drug company stockholder's dream and a consumer's worst nightmare." The proposed legislation will strip Americans of the right to a trial by jury if harmed by an experimental or licensed drug or vaccine that they are forced by government to take, whenever federal health officials declare a public health emergency.…

The bill establishes the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Agency (BARDA), as the single point of authority within the government for the advanced research and development of drugs and vaccines in response to bioterrorism and natural disease outbreaks such as the flu. BARDA will operate in secret, exempt from the Freedom of Information Act and the Federal Advisory Committee Act, insuring that no evidence of injuries or deaths caused by drugs and vaccines labeled as "countermeasures" will become public. Nicknamed "Bioshield Two," the legislation is being pushed rapidly through Congress without time for voters to make their voices heard by their elected representatives.

The federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is legally responsible for regulating the pharmaceutical industry and ensuring that drugs and vaccines released to the public are safe and effective. Drug companies marketing painkillers, like Vioxx, and anti-depressants, which have resulted in the deaths and injuries of thousands of children and adults, are being held accountable in civil court while the FDA has come under intense criticism for withholding information about the drugs' dangers from the public. Since 1986, vaccine makers have been protected from most liability in civil court through the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act in which Congress created a federal vaccine injury compensation program (VICP) that offers vaccine victims an alternative to the court system. Even though the the program has awarded nearly $2 billion to victims of mandated vaccines, two out of three plaintiffs are turned away.

Fluoride

As if allowing the poison mercury in children's vaccinations isn't enough, food additives with questionable histories have also been pumped into populations under the auspices of improving health. One such additive is flouride. Initial investigations into water supplies containing natural occuring fluoride seemed to demonstrate that it reduced tooth decay. An apparent side effect of too much fluoride is the staining brown of teeth, something told to me by a friend who lived in an area used as an early testing ground for government-mandated water fluoridation.

According to David Icke in his book Children of the Matrix:

"Fluoride is another major intellect suppressant that is being added to drinking water supplies and toothpaste. Sodium fluoride is a common ingredient in rat and cockroach poisons, anaesthetics, hypnotics, psychiatric drugs, and military nerve gas."

Fluoride is being claimed as an agent in dumbing down the population. According to the Fluoride Action Network in their article "Fluoride Linked to Low IQ, Studies Show":

Children scored inferior IQ's even when fluoride levels were similar to that added to U.S. water supplies to prevent tooth decay ("Effect of Fluoride in Drinking Water on Children's Intelligence," Fluoride, Xiang et al., May 2003). "As the fluoride levels in drinking water increased, the IQ fell and the rates of mental retardation and borderline intelligence increased," write researchers Xiang, et al. Tested were 512 children, aged 8-13 years from Wamiao, a high-fluoride village, and Xinhuai, a low-fluoride village. The high-fluoride village was divided into five subgroups by water fluoride levels, from 0.62 mg Fluoride per Liter to 4.38 mg F/L. As water fluoride levels increased within the high fluoride village, IQ decreased. "When the data from the 512 children in the two villages were considered as a whole, a significant inverse correlation was found between IQ and the level of fluoride in urine," the researchers report. "These results are consistent with the findings recorded by Li at al. (Li et al., "Effect of excessive fluoride intake on mental work capacity of children and preliminary study of its mechanism," J West China University of Medical Sciences 1994; 25:188-9), Zhao et al. (Zhao LB, et al., "Effect of a high fluoride water supply on children's intelligence, Fluoride 1996;29:190-2), and Lu et al.(Lu Y. et al., Fluoride Vol. 33 No. 2 74-78 2000 "Effect of High-Fluoride Water on Intelligence in Children" http://www.fluoride-journal.com/00-33-2/332-74.pdf) of an inverse correlation between intelligence and dietary fluoride from either contaminated food or drinking water," they report.…

In 1998, [researchers] found that even 1 part per million fluoride, the amount purposely added to U.S. water supplies, facilitated uptake of aluminum into rats' brains causing amyloid deposits similar to Alzheimer's patients," says [Chemistry Professor Paul Connett, Ph.D.] [Varner JA, et al., "Chronic administration of aluminum-fluoride or sodium-fluoride to rats in drinking water: alterations in neuronal and cerebrovascular integrity," Brain Res. 1998 Feb http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd= Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=9518651&dopt=Abstract]. "Contrary to the [American Dental Association's (ADA)] assurances of fluoridation's safety, the ADA is disregarding new adverse fluoride studies," says Attorney Paul Beeber, President, New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation. "The ADA can't be relied on by the media, legislators, health officials and the public about fluoride and fluoridation's safety or bodily effects," says Beeber.

Personally, I found it odd that the drinking fountain at a clinic on an American military base in Germany would explicitly warn people that the water contained fluoride. As research chemist Charles Perkins wrote in October 1954 to the Lee Foundation for Nutritional Research in Milwaukee, Wisconsin:

In the 1930's Hitler and the German Nazis envisioned a world to be dominated and controlled by a Nazi philosophy of pan-Germanism. The German chemists worked out a very ingenious and far-reaching plan of mass-control which was submitted to and adopted by the German General Staff. This plan was to control the population in any given area through mass medication of drinking water supplies. By this method they could control the population in whole areas, reduce population by water medication that would produce sterility in women, and so on. In this scheme of mass-control, sodium fluoride occupied a prominent place.

Maybe we should follow the warning label on tubes of toothpaste:

Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If more than used for brushing is accidentally swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Monosodium glutamate (MSG)

Another common additive to food products is monosodium glutamate or MSG, often associated with Asian food. According to a 2005 article at the website rense.com entitled "MSG Causes Most Obesity In US And Canada," the MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn't added. The article also notes:

No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so the scientists have to create them. They make these morbidly obese creatures by injecting them with MSG when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and humans?) to become obese; they even have a title for the race of fat rodents they create: "MSG-Treated Rats."

The article continues that even if a food product doesn't say it has MSG, it may list as an ingredient Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, which is just another name for Monosodium Glutamate:

Burger King, McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every restaurant, even the sit down ones like TGIF, Chilis', Applebees and Denny's use MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG was in every chicken dish, salad dressing and gravy.

The website MSGTruth.org states:

Although it is often brought up by glutamate industry representatives that injected MSG is somehow different than ingested MSG it has actually been proven in studies with human subjects that ingested MSG results in raised blood levels of glutamic acid and that this free glutamic acid does increase insulin levels in the human body. The other argument often made by representatives from the glutamate industry — that the blood brain barrier protects the brain from increased glutamate levels in the blood does not address the fact that the part of the brain responsible for hunger — the hypothalamus, is not protected at all by the blood-brain barrier. They also do not address the fact that the blood-brain barrier is compromised in individuals in a hypoglycemic state, which may occur when levels of insulin — the very hormone increased by ingesting MSG, is high.

While making food more palatable with MSG, a substance that may cause overt abreactions such as chest pains in those sensitive to the chemical, may seem bad, it is nothing compared with aspartame. Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that goes under several names including NutraSweet, Equal, and Canderel. Ecologist Online reports that once upon a time, aspartame was listed by the Pentagon as a biochemical warfare agent. Today it's an integral part of the modern diet.ⁱ

Online Journal, established in 1998 to provide uncensored and accurate news, analysis and commentary, questions the use of the compound in an article entitled "Crucial warning about aspartame in diet drinks and food":

Suppose someone offered you this deal: "Let us feed your children products that trigger learning and behavioral problems, cause obesity, interact with drugs and vaccines, precipitate diabetes, trigger brain fog, blindness, retardation, seizures and produce 92 symptoms including death, by FDA report? Would you consent?

And by the way an ingredient is an addictive narcotic that hooks them for life, and shortens it. Student athletes will suddenly drop dead when it damages their cardiac conduction systems. It also is a chemical hypersensitization agent.

The article continues:

The National Soft Drink Association petition to Congress against the approval of aspartame was published…May 7, 1985, [and noted that] "there have been hundreds of reports from consumers around the country suggesting a possible relationship between their consumption of NutraSweet and subsequent symptoms including headaches, aberrational behavior, slurred speech, etc. . . . Aspartame has been demonstrated to inhibit the carbohydrate-induced-synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin (Wurtman affidavit)."

Dr. Louis Elsas, Professor of Genetics and Pediatrics at Emory University, in congressional testimony: "I have considerable concern for the increased dissemination and consumption of the sweetener aspartame in our world food supply. This artificial dipeptide is hydrolyzed by the intestinal tract to produce L-phenylalanine which in excess is a known neurotoxin. . . . In the rapidly growing post natal brain (children of 0–12 months) irreversible brain damage could occur."

Dr. H. J. Roberts, F.A.C.P., F.C.C.P., named the "best doctor in the country" by a national medical publication, in his paper "Warning School Children at Risk": "Aspartame induced disorders in children include headache, confusion, convulsions, irritability, depression, intellectual deterioration, antisocial behavior, rashes, asthma and unstable diabetes. Addiction to aspartame products has also become a problem." Dr. Roberts authored three medical texts on aspartame toxicity, including "Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic," 1,038 pages.

In college I knew more than one diet soda junkie. They admitted they were highly addicted to their beverage of choice, suffering symptoms of withdrawl when unable to obtain their fix.

According to David Oliver Rietz on his website DORway to Discovery in an article entitled "Artificial Sweetener, Aspertame, (Equal, NutraSweet) Linked to Breast Cancer and Gulf War Syndrome":

Strong statistical evidence links the artificial sweetener, aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet) to breast cancer. Aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet) is added to over 5,000 food and drink products and is sold in almost 100 countries.

There is chemical proof that the synthetic amino acids that compose aspartame -- phenylalanine, aspartic acid, and the methanol in which they are bound, are poison, neurotoxins. Phenylalanine (50% of aspartame) causes seizures and degrades into DKP, a tumor causing agent. Aspartic acid (40% of aspartame) caused holes in the brains of mice (Dr. John Olney, neuroscientist, Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.)

Methanol (wood alcohol, 10% of aspartame) is a cumulative toxin in the body. Since it is "free" methanol", appearing without ethanol (the antidote for methanol toxicity always present in natural food such as fruit juice), the methanol in aspartame is lethal. Methanol destroys the optic nerve and can cause blindness. Fetal tissue cannot tolerate methanol.

In addition, the methanol in aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet) breaks down into formaldehyde (embalming fluid) and formic acid which has the chemical composition of ant venom. Formic acid is used commercially in products such as paint stripper.

There is actual proof from recent records released by the Freedom of Information Act that aspartame caused dozens of mammary tumors in animals tested from 1971 to 1974 by G.D. Searle, the pharmaceutical company, responsible for aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet).

The article continues with a description of a $1200 science project conducted by a sixth-grader involving Diet Coke. Lab testing proved that aspertame stored at high temperatures, such as those found in Iraq during the 1991 Gulf War when huge amounts of free diet soda drinks were supplied to soldiers, was converted into the highest levels of formaldehyde and DKP, more so than when refrigerated. The report then explains:

Gulf War Syndrome is aspartame poisoning. Approximately 45,000 to 100,000 of 697,000 Americans who served in the Gulf War, Desert Storm are suffering from aspartame (Equal, NutraSweet) poisoning because they drank diet soda which, unstable in the desert heat changed into a toxic cocktail of methanol, formaldehyde, formic acid and DKP.

Bromine in sodas

In addition to aspartame, another additive to sodas has been bromine. According to Wikipedia:^*

Elemental bromine is used to manufacture a wide variety of bromine compounds used in industry and agriculture. Traditionally the largest use of bromine was in the production of 1,2-Dibromoethane which in turn was used as a gasoline anti-knock agent for leaded gasolines before they were largely phased out due to environmental considerations. Bromine is also used in making fumigants, flameproofing agents, water purification compounds, dyes, medicinals, sanitizes [sic], inorganic bromides for photography, etc. It is also used to form intermediates in organic synthesis, where it is preferred to iodine due to its much lower cost. Bromine is used to make brominated vegetable oil, which is used as an emulsifier in many citrus-flavored soft drinks.

Alloxan to bleach flour

Luckily, soda pops are now being phased out of children's schools in lieu of more healthy drink options. Unforutunately, there is still yet another food additive to which kids and adults alike are being exposed. News Target, a daily news and commentary on natural health, wellness, planetary health and medicine reports on bleached flour:

Studies show that alloxan, the chemical that makes white flour look "clean" and "beautiful," destroys the beta cells of the pancreas.… Scientists have known of the alloxan-diabetes connection for years; in fact, researchers who are studying diabetes commonly use the chemical to induce the disorder in lab animals.
